Brevard is located in the heart of Transylvania County, which is covered with over 300 square miles of lush Appalachian forests. Due to its unique geological features, the area is sometimes referred to as the "Land of 250 Waterfalls.”
Brevard serves as the world’s only sanctuary for the white squirrel. The Brevard College campus hosts the highest concentration of the, otherwise, extremely rare animal.
